Dr. Javaid Ahmad Sheikh hails from Akura Mattan village of District Anantnag. Dr. Javaid has completed early education from his native district.  He completed his M. Sc, M. Phil and Ph. D in Electronics with specializations in Wireless Communications and RF Engineering.  Since 2010 he is working as Associate Professor  in the department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology, University of Kashmir. Previously Dr. Javaid was appointed as J.E. (Telecommunications) in the year 2008 by Govt. of India, Assistant Professor by JK public Service Commission (2010). Dr. Sheikh have qualified several National level examinations including NET, SET, Flying officers Examination (EKT) by Ministry of Défense Govt. of India, JRF examination in DRDO GOI. Dr. Javaid was also selected for
Summer Research Faculty Fellowship (SFRF- 2019) at IIT Delhi under the mentorship of Prof. Shankar Pragriya Deppt of Electrical Engineering and completed it successfully. Dr. Javaid is among the top cited researchers in the University of Kashmir with Google Scholar citations 2247, h-index 27 and i10-index 41. Dr. Javaid also played a vital role in framing the curricula and starting of Institute of Technology (IOT) Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir in the year 2014-2015. He has published approximately 200 papers in reputed International and National Journals (IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor and Francis) with high SCI Impact factor and Conference proceedings besides Four (20) book chapters.  Dr. Javaid have received 13 Best paper awards in reputed international conferences and certificate of Appreciation from Govt. of J and K for the outstanding contribution in the mitigation of COVID-19 pandemic as Nodal Officer. Dr. Javaid is also editor and reviewer of Journals. In the administrative sector Dr. Javaid worked as Warden Scholars hostel, working as Warden S.A. Hostels Zakura Campus, Coordinator DIQA. At the National Level Dr. Javaid A. Sheikh is acting as Regional Mentor of Change for the establishment of tickering labs by NITI Ayog Govt. of India, Social Media Coordinator IIC MHRD. He is also a panel member of NIELIT for accreditation of various hardware courses.  Dr. Sheikh is also a jury
member in DST INSPIRE projects at the school level.
